About us - Aims

The aims and objectives of the network are:

  • to facilitate communication between an international and multidisciplinary body of scholars in order to examine the challenges to copyright law from an interdisciplinary perspective and to formulate new directions in copyright law that will meet those challenges;
  • to enable academic researchers to develop working relationships with researchers working outside the academic environment;
  • to play a leading role in stimulating international research and debate about the future of the copyright system;
  • to disseminate scholarly works on the purpose, role, function and future of the copyright system;
  • to provide fora for debate and discussion about the future of the copyright system amongst a wide range of stakeholders in the copyright system, including: copyright scholars; international, regional and national policymakers and regulators; legal practitioners; creative artists; publishers; broadcasters; and media and entertainments enterprises;
  • to form the basis of a viable, long term, self-supporting research network on new directions in copyright law.
