The aims and objectives of the network are:
- to facilitate communication between an international and multidisciplinary
body of scholars in order to examine the challenges to copyright
law from an interdisciplinary perspective and to formulate new
directions in copyright law that will meet those challenges;
- to enable academic researchers to develop working relationships
with researchers working outside the academic environment;
- to play a leading role in stimulating international research
and debate about the future of the copyright system;
- to disseminate scholarly works on the purpose, role, function
and future of the copyright system;
- to provide fora for debate and discussion about the future
of the copyright system amongst a wide range of stakeholders in
the copyright system, including: copyright scholars; international,
regional and national policymakers and regulators; legal practitioners;
creative artists; publishers; broadcasters; and media and entertainments
enterprises;
- to form the basis of a viable, long term, self-supporting research
network on new directions in copyright law.
